Author Guidelines

- Journal Health Information Management Indonesian is a scientific journal that publishes scholarly works in the field of health information management. Authors must follow the journal template and writing guidelines carefully. The editorial team is not responsible for correcting substantive content or major formatting errors, except in limited circumstances when necessary. Accepted manuscript formats are .rtf, .doc, and .docx; .pdf is not accepted. Manuscripts must use A4 paper size (210 × 297 mm).
- Manuscripts must be submitted through the Journal Health Information Management Indonesian OJS website:
https://jhimi.poltekindonusa.ac.id/jurnal_jhimi/index.php/MIK/index - All authors listed in the manuscript must also be entered completely in the OJS submission metadata during the submission process.
- The manuscript must be written in one main language only, either Indonesian or English, while the abstract must be provided in both Indonesian and English.
- The manuscript must be prepared using Times New Roman 10 pt, single spacing, justified paragraphs, first-line indentation 1 cm, spacing before 0 pt, and spacing after 6 pt, with a minimum length of 5 pages.
- The article title must contain no more than 12 words, be written in Times New Roman 16 pt bold, and use Capitalize Each Word style.
- Author information must be written as follows:
- Full author names without academic titles
- Author affiliations
- Full institutional address, city, postal code, and country
- Corresponding author email
This format is shown explicitly in the template header.
- The abstract must:
- Be written in Indonesian and English
- Consist of one paragraph for each language
- Contain a maximum of 200 words
- Briefly describe the problem/objectives, methods of data collection and analysis, and results/discussion
- Use Times New Roman 10 pt
- Be followed by 3–5 keywords or phrases
- The manuscript structure should follow this order:
- Title
- Author identity and affiliation
- Abstract and keywords in two languages
- Introduction
- Research Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Closing
- Conclusion
- Suggestion
- Acknowledgments
- Bibliography
The template also allows subsections in the Methods section when needed.
- The Introduction must contain the background of the problem, research urgency, brief review of previous studies, research gap, novelty, and research objectives. It must be written in coherent paragraphs without subheadings. Section heading uses Times New Roman 11 pt.
- The Research Methods section must clearly explain the type/design of research, setting and time, population/sample or subjects, sampling technique, variables, operational definitions if needed, instruments, data collection, procedures, and data analysis. If human subjects are involved, ethical approval information should be stated when relevant. This section may be divided into sub-sections if necessary.
- The Results section presents research findings objectively. For qualitative research, results and discussion may be combined. For quantitative or mixed methods studies, results and discussion should be separated. Data may be presented in tables, graphs, or figures, with a maximum of 5–7 items; for qualitative semiotic studies, figures may be up to 10 images.
- Tables and figures must follow these rules:
- Numbered sequentially
- Table title placed above the table
- Figure title placed as shown in the template
- Title font uses Times New Roman 11 pt
- Table contents use Times New Roman 10 pt, single spacing
- Sources must be stated when using secondary data or non-original material
- Figures should be clear; patterns/lines are preferred instead of color alone
- The Discussion section must explain the findings accurately and argumentatively by relating them to relevant theory and previous studies. The expected length is 3–5 pages. The manuscript should use at least 15 references, preferably from the last 5 years, and it is strongly recommended to cite at least one relevant article previously published in Journal Health Information Management Indonesian.
- The Conclusion must be written in narrative form, not in bullets or numbering. It should clearly answer the research objectives or questions and be written concisely and effectively. Suggested length is about 0.5 page.
- The Suggestion section may contain practical recommendations, implications, or proposals for further research, especially in relation to the study limitations.
- The Acknowledgments section is intended only for parties who have provided financial support.
- The Bibliography/References must use Vancouver style (Author-Number), not IEEE style. References must be written in Times New Roman 10 pt, with a minimum of 15 references, preferably published within the last 5 years, except for limited foundational references. If a source has more than 6 authors, list the first authors followed by et al.
- Authors are strongly encouraged to use a reference manager such as Mendeley, EndNote, Zotero, or similar software to manage citations and references consistently.
- Authors must ensure that the manuscript is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism.
- Authors are responsible for all matters related to copyright, licensing, and intellectual property rights (IPR) arising from the use of cited materials, figures, tables, or other content included in the manuscript.
Submission Preparation Checklist
Before submitting a manuscript to Journal Health Information Management Indonesian, authors must ensure that:
- The manuscript is the author’s original work and is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism.
- The manuscript has been prepared using the official Journal Health Information Management Indonesian article template and follows all journal writing guidelines.
- The manuscript file is in .rtf, .doc, or .docx format, and not in .pdf format.
- The manuscript is written in one main language only—either Indonesian or English—while the abstract is provided in both languages.
- The manuscript contains at least 15 references, and the references cited are only those actually mentioned in the text.
- Citations and references have been managed using a reference manager.
- The references follow the Vancouver style (Author-Number).
- The author agrees not to submit the same manuscript to another journal simultaneously unless the manuscript has been officially rejected by Journal Health Information Management Indonesian.
- The author is willing to communicate responsively, properly, and ethically during the editorial process.
- The manuscript similarity level meets the journal requirement, namely less than 20%, as checked using iThenticate or Turnitin.
- The author understands that withdrawal of a manuscript under review is discouraged because it wastes editorial and reviewer resources.
