Duties of Editors

Decision on the Publication of Articles
The Editor-in-Chief of Journal Health Information Management Indonesian is responsible for deciding which manuscripts submitted to the journal should be published. In making this decision, the Editor-in-Chief may be guided by the editorial policies of the journal, reviewer recommendations, and applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of their academic merit, originality, clarity, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to scholarly knowledge, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, prospective reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Review of Manuscripts
The Editor-in-Chief must ensure that each submitted manuscript is initially evaluated for suitability, originality, and compliance with the journal’s policies. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded for peer review by qualified reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on the scholarly merit of the manuscript, reviewer comments, and compliance with editorial standards.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the author’s express written consent. Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and may also assist authors in improving the quality of their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

Promptness
Any invited reviewer who feels unqualified to review the manuscript or knows that a timely review will not be possible should promptly notify the editor and decline the review invitation.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively, professionally, and constructively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly and support their comments with reasoned arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and other published work known to the reviewer should be reported to the editor.

Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, institutional, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the manuscript.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards
Authors of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Manuscripts should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to understand, verify, or replicate the work where appropriate. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide the raw data related to a manuscript for editorial review and should be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable period after publication, where appropriate.

Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works. If the work or words of others have been used, they must be properly cited or quoted. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Proper acknowledgement of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the Manuscript
Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Those who contributed to certain substantive aspects of the research should be acknowledged appropriately.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the research should also be disclosed.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works
When authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their own published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article where necessary.

Plagiarism Policy
Journal Health Information Management Indonesian does not tolerate plagiarism in any form. All submitted manuscripts may be screened using similarity-checking tools before entering the review process. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, improper citation, or unattributed copying, may be rejected, returned for revision, or subject to further editorial action depending on the severity of the case.

Ethical Oversight
For research involving human participants, personal data, medical records, or other sensitive materials, authors are expected to state that the study was conducted in accordance with applicable ethical standards and to provide ethical approval information when relevant. Authors should also indicate that informed consent was obtained when required.

Corrections, Retractions, and Withdrawals

When necessary, the journal will publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, or other notices. Articles may be corrected or retracted when there is clear evidence of major error, plagiarism, duplicate publication, unethical research, or other serious violations of publication ethics. Withdrawal of manuscripts after submission may only be considered under justified circumstances and in accordance with the journal’s editorial policy.
