Peer Review Process

Journal Health Information Management Indonesian applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and scientific contribution of every manuscript submitted to the journal. In this process, the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review stage.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal are first evaluated by the editorial team to assess their suitability with the journal’s scope, writing guidelines, and basic publication requirements. Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening will be sent to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise in the field.

The journal accepts manuscripts written in Indonesian or English. Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, constructively, and within the assigned review period. The review process is intended not only to support editorial decisions but also to help authors improve the academic quality of their work.

Reviewers are expected to:

- review the manuscript critically but constructively;
- provide clear, objective, and detailed comments to assist the authors in improving the manuscript;
- submit their review within the specified deadline;
- make recommendations to the editor regarding the suitability of the manuscript for publication;
- declare any potential conflict of interest related to the manuscript under review;
- maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and the review process;
- avoid using any unpublished material contained in the manuscript for personal or professional advantage;
- avoid direct communication with the authors regarding the manuscript;
- inform the editor if they suspect plagiarism, duplicate submission, major error, or ethical concerns in the manuscript;
- decline the review invitation if they are unable to provide a fair and timely review.

In assessing the manuscript, reviewers may consider the following aspects:

- originality and novelty of the topic;
- scientific merit and relevance to the journal’s scope;
- clarity of objectives, methods, results, and conclusions;
- validity and reliability of the analysis;
- contribution to knowledge and practice;
- ethical compliance of the study, where applicable;
- appropriateness of references and citation support;
- organization, language quality, and clarity of presentation;
- compliance with the journal’s author guidelines.

Steps in the Peer Review Process

1. The author submits the manuscript through the journal submission system along with all required supplementary documents.
2. The editorial team performs an initial screening to evaluate the manuscript’s scope, format, originality, and compliance with the journal’s policies.
3. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers.
4. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript and provide recommendations to the editor.
5. The editor communicates the review results to the author.
6. The author is asked to revise the manuscript if revisions are required.
7. The revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
8. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the author’s revision, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions: accept, accept with minor revision, revise and resubmit, or reject.
9. If the manuscript is accepted, the author submits the final version for editorial processing and publication.
10. Before publication, the author may receive a proof version for final checking. Only minor corrections are allowed at this stage.
11. The final article is then published in Journal Health Information Management Indonesian.

The journal is committed to conducting the peer review process in a timely, fair, and professional manner while maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of scholarly communication.
